Paramedics said the man, who has not been named by police but is thought to be in his 40s, suffered a "very severe" arm injury as a result of the accident at Huntingdon
Train operator WAGN WAGN West Anglia and Great Northern railway (UK) said the man had stepped off the train after saying goodbye to a woman passenger he had dropped off. His coat had then become trapped in the closing doors and he was dragged along the platform before falling under the train. A spokeswoman said the alarm was quickly raised and the train stopped before travelling far. She said an investigation was under way into the incident. "The gentleman was saying goodbye to a woman on the train," said a WAGN spokeswoman. "He got on the train with the person he was saying goodbye to and got off when the alarm sounded. "It appears that he stood quite close to the train and as the doors closed he didn't realise that his coat was in the door. "As the train gathered speed he got pulled under the train. Miraculously he survived but he did suffer severe injuries to the arm. A spokesman for the East Anglian Ambulance Service added: "The man suffered a very severe arm injury and is now being treated in hospital." |
