BRISTOL-MYERS SQUIBB EXECUTIVE ASSUMES ADDITIONAL COMPANY RESPONSIBILITY

 PRINCETON, N.J., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE: BMY) today announced that Samuel A. Hamad, president, Intercontinental Division, Pharmaceutical Group, has assumed responsibility for managing Latin America and Japan in addition to being responsible for businesses in Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Canada, the Middle East and Africa.
 He also has global responsibility for Strategic Product Planning for the company's Central Nervous System products.
 The areas Hamad is overseeing represent important business opportunities for Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. He directs numerous company senior executives worldwide to develop policies and programs to achieve business objectives throughout the Intercontinental Division. He also has become a member of the Pharmaceutical Group Operating Committee.
 Hamad joined Bristol-Myers Squibb Company in 1983 as vice president, Pharmaceutical Products, International Group. Since then, he has progressed through various positions of increasing responsibility with the company's worldwide pharmaceutical operations. At the time of the merger, he was charged with the important responsibility of integrating the company's global pharmaceutical capability.
 Hamad earned his B.A. in economics with honors from American University in Cairo. He is a resident of Hopewell, N.J.
