 DALLAS, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Brinker International, Inc.


(NYSE: EAT) reported record revenues of $131.9 million for the third quarter ended March 31, 1992, an increase of 23.0 percent over the $107.2 million reported for the same quarter of fiscal 1991. Income before income taxes increased to $14.2 million, 44.9 percent above the $9.8 million reported in fiscal 1991. Net income rose 45.3 percent from $6.4 million to $9.3 million, while primary net income per share increased 30.4 percent from $0.23 to $0.30.
 Revenues for the nine month period ended March 31, 1992, rose 22.5 percent to $378.0 million over the $308.6 million reported for the same period last year. Income before income taxes increased to $38.5 million, 43.7 percent above the $26.8 million reported in fiscal 1991. Net income increased 42.4 percent to $25.2 million from $17.7 million while primary net income per share increased 26.6 percent from $0.64 to $0.81.
 Comparable store sales for the third quarter of fiscal 1992 rose 4.1 percent over the same quarter last year. Fiscal 1992 year-to-date comparable store sales increased 3.3 percent over the same nine month period of fiscal 1991.
 Brinker currently owns and operates three restaurant concepts under the names of Chili's Grill & Bar, Grady's American Grill and Romano's Macaroni Grill. Brinker opened four company-operated Chili's restaurants and two franchised units during the quarter. These new openings increase the total number of Chili's restaurants system-wide to 267 operating in 39 states and Canada. Brinker plans to open seven company-operated Chili's restaurants and one franchised unit during the fourth quarter. Two new Grady's and two Romano's restaurants were opened during the third quarter. In addition to the 16 Grady's and eight Romano's restaurants currently open, Brinker anticipates opening one Grady's and four to five Romano's restaurants in the fourth quarter.
 Chili's are full-service restaurants featuring a casual atmosphere and a limited menu of freshly prepared chicken, beef and seafood entrees, hamburgers, ribs, fajitas, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, desserts and a full-service bar. Grady's restaurants are casual, upscale dinner houses that feature fresh seafood, prime rib, steaks, pasta, salads, sandwiches, appetizers, desserts and a full-service bar. Romano's are full-service Italian restaurants featuring appetizers, salads, seafood, meat and pasta entrees, and desserts with a limited wine and beer selection.
