BRINGING YOU THREE OF THE VERY BEST...

THREE Echo photographers have beaten off competition from national newspapers to win honours in the Trinity Mirror Trinity Mirror plc is a large United Kingdom newspaper and magazine publisher. It is Britain's biggest newspaper group, publishing 240 regional papers as well as the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, People, Sunday Mail and Daily Record.  Photographic Awards 2003.

Mark Fraser, Malcolm Morgan and Richard Swingler were nominated for prizes from more than 1,000 entries from right across the Trinity Mirror group, including national titles like the Daily Mirror.

The winners were announced in London from the shortlist of 20 photographers.

Malcolm was highly commended in the best feature picture category for his snap of a corgi attending an acting audition, whiel Mark was third in the news picture category with an image of the Duke of Edinburgh Noun 1. Duke of Edinburgh - Englishman and husband of Elizabeth II (born 1921)

 visiting Rhondda Heritage Park Rhondda Heritage Park, Trehafod, Rhondda Valley, south Wales is a tourist attraction which offers an insight into the life of the coal mining community that existed in the area until the 1980s. .

Richard came second in the best feature picture category for a picture of two mischievous centenarians Here is a list of well-known centenarians (people who lived to be or are living at 100 years or more of age), with the still living ones bolded and italicized. This list is divided into sub-lists, according to how the centenarian (mostly) became well-known.  celebrating their birthdays.

The Echo's editor Alastair Milburn said: ``The fact that the Echo managed to have three of its pictures included in a shortlist of just 20, involving the biggest newspaper group in Britain, is testament to the skill and professionalism of our photographers.

``They work very hard to bring you first-class images day in, day out to make your favourite read even more enjoyable.''
