Taking second place in the nation was quite an accomplishment for the SCTC's Midget Boys (11- and 12-year-olds) - a team that almost didn't happen. While in the past these boys would have competed as Valley Striders, they wanted to run under a Santa Clarita name to give their local area the recognition. All of their hard work paid off when the team points were tallied at the end of the competition, and the SCTC boys had won the silver medal by placing second in team points. Some of the younger siblings of the members of the SCTC Midget Boys team also competed at the national event either as individuals or as part of another team. Amy Hudson and Abigail Daley competed in the Bantam Bantam Former city and sultanate, Java. It was located at the western end of Java between the Java Sea and the Indian Ocean. In the early 16th century it became a powerful Muslim sultanate, which extended its control over parts of Sumatra and Borneo. Girls 9- to 10-year-old group and Noah Beilin ran in the Bantam Boys group.
