BRIGHT LIGHTS READY TO SHINE DOWNTOWN; NEW THEATER PREPARES TO OPEN.Byline: Patricia Farrell Aidem Staff Writer NEWHALL - Crews have been working around-the-clock, readying the new Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. The city of Santa Clarita has created a redevelopment district in downtown Newhall, the region's original business district. The hope is to attract theaters, galleries, restaurants and shops that will bring new life to the old downtown.
