SPRINGFIELD - A man armed with a razor knife robbed a business owner at a Main Street shop in Springfield Monday night, police said.

The robber walked into the Humble Warrior Supply shop at 4217 Main St. at 8:49 p.m. and confronted the business owner.

The business owner called 911 after the robber left the shop. Police were not able to locate the robber.

Robbery foiled by worker at Springfield paint shop

SPRINGFIELD - A would-be robber ran from a paint store Monday after an employee of the business refused to hand over any money, police said.

The intruder walked into a Sherwin-Williams Co. store at 1520 18th St. just after 5 p.m., and presented a note to a male employee standing behind the counter, police said.

In the note, the intruder demanded money and claimed to be armed with a gun. Police said the employee read it, then told the stranger, "It's not going to happen."

The would-be robber said "OK" before grabbing the note and fleeing the business empty-handed, police said.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call them at 726-3714.

Driver killed near Noti when car runs into tree

NOTI - A motorist was killed Monday evening when a 1996 Nissan sedan Sedan (sədäN`), town (1990 pop. 22,407), Ardennes dept., NE France, on the Meuse River. A noted textile center since the 16th cent., Sedan also has metal and brewing industries. The town became part of French crown lands in 1642.  failed to negotiate a curve on Poodle poodle, popular breed of dog probably originating in Germany but generally associated with France, where it has been raised for centuries. There are three varieties, differing in size only.  Creek Road near Noti and crashed sideways into a large tree, the Lane County Sheriff's Office said.

The driver was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation revealed no other occupants, and it appeared that alcohol was not a factor. Air bags were deployed, and the driver was wearing a seat belt, deputies said.

The accident occurred at around 8:07 p.m. The driver's identity was not revealed pending notification of kin.
