Genealogists will discuss birthday records

 Society will meet today at 10 a.m. at the society's library, at Birch Avenue and H Street.

The topic is "How Important is a Birthday?" The meeting will discuss how to find the birth dates of ancestors.

Lunch is available after the meeting for $3.

Bandon police chief pleads innocent

BANDON - Bandon Police Chief Bob McBride has pleaded innocent to 10 misdemeanor hunting violations.

McBride, 53, entered the plea Monday.

Oregon State Police began investigating McBride and two other men more than a year ago after an anonymous tip about a Bandon guide service. Undercover officers said McBride guided a hunt without a license, hunted cougars using dogs and failed to validate a bobcat bobcat: see lynx.
