Man died from accidental fall, police conclude

A man whose body was found earlier this month on a north Eugene street died as the result of an accidental fall, Eugene police said.

Police would not release the name of the man found Dec. 5 at the side of the Maxwell Road overpass near Northwest Expressway, but the funeral home handling his remains identified him as 27-year-old Dionicio Ventura-Regules.

Someone found the body and called police about 4:30 p.m. Detectives said the death was not suspicious but few details were released. On Tuesday, Eugene police spokeswoman Kerry Delf said an autopsy had determined that the man died after a fall. Investigators have been unable to locate any next of kin, she said.
