Organizers are looking for experts to speak on women's health care topics at the second annual "Shades of Pink: An Evening for Women, Wine and Wellness" on Oct. 1.

They also are seeking local businesses representing health, beauty, nutrition, and general women's wellness to participate as well as vineyards interested in promoting their wines.

picnic scheduled

The 10th annual picnic honoring alumni of the Civilian Conservation Corps Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), established in 1933 by the U.S. Congress as a measure of the New Deal program. The CCC provided work and vocational training for unemployed single young men through conserving and developing the country's natural resources.  will be held Wednesday in the Longbow longbow

 Organization Camp in the Willamette National Forest The Willamette National Forest is a National Forest located in the central portion of the Cascade Range of Oregon, US.[1] It contains 1,675,407 acres (2,618 mi², 6,780 km²) making it one of the largest national forests. . Families and others interested in CCC history can join in this potluck picnic.

The program will begin at 11 a.m., with lunch at 12:30 p.m. Those needing rides should call 367-3546 or 367-5168 in advance of the picnic and can meet at the Sweet Home Ranger Station, 4431 Highway 20, at 9:30 a.m.

The campground is 23 miles east of Sweet Home.

Table service and beverages will be provided. Participants with last names beginning with A-L should bring a hot dish; M-S M-S Master-Slave
M-S Mid-Side (stereo recording technique)
M-S Miznay-Shardin (mine plate charge) 
 should provide salads; and T-Z should bring desserts, but attendees can instead bring a favorite dish.

People with photos, news clippings or other memorabilia from the CCC years can bring them along to share.

The picnic is being sponsored by Jan and Fred Wellhouser of South Santiam Services, and the Forest Service's Sweet Home Ranger District.
