The starting gun is up

for 2008 Olympic Trials

The official one-year countdown to the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials will begin Saturday at the Fifth Street Public Market with a two-hour celebration and unveiling of a clock similar to the ones stationed around Beijing counting the days to the 2008 Olympic Games Olympic games, premier athletic meeting of ancient Greece, and, in modern times, series of international sports contests. Elected officials, including Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy "Kitty" Piercy is the current mayor of Eugene, Oregon, sworn in January of 2005.
