PALMDALE -- Two armed robberies were reported Wednesday night -- one at a Littlerock motel, the other at a Palmdale minimart, sheriff's Deputy Daryl Bonsall said.
Four men, one with an automatic firearm, robbed the Dena Inn Motel on Pearblossom Road about 8 p.m., taking approximately $200 in cash and a computer, Bonsall said.
The robbers sped off in a late-model white Ford Expedition or Explorer, Bonsall said.
About 10 p.m., two men wearing gray ski masks robbed the Courson Minimart on 11th Street East and Palmdale Boulevard; they stole $900 in cash after pistol-whipping an attendant, Bonsall said.
The assailants were seen running away, heading south on 11th Street toward Courson Park.

Area gang suspect arrested in standoff
LANCASTER -- An hourlong standoff ended with the arrest of a gang member suspect at a Lancaster home Wednesday, a sheriff's deputy said.
Anthony Alvala, 22, was arrested on suspicion of felony illegal weapons possession and probation violation charges that would carry enhanced sentences because of his gang affiliation, gang detail Sgt. Derek Yoshino said.
Alvala drew law enforcement's attention when he showed up at a local hospital claiming to be a gunshot victim with wounds more consistent with a firearm accidentally going off in his pants pocket, Yoshino said, noting that the bullet recovered matched a .25-caliber automatic weapon in Alvala's home.
Alvala's tattoos identified him as a member of an active criminal street gang, Yoshino said.
