BRIEFLY.Man dies when car lands in ditch MALIBU -- A 20-year-old Los Angeles man was killed and a 17-year-old Pacoima girl was seriously injured when their car landed in a concrete ditch, authorities said Tuesday. Genaro Cisneros was killed in the crash on Malibu Canyon Road near Malibu Crest Drive about 8 p.m. Monday, California Highway Patrol Officer David Porter said. Officers said the car had been speeding before it plunged 30 feet into the ditch. The girl, a passenger in the vehicle whose name was not released, was taken to UCLA Medical Center with major injuries, Porter said. -- Daily News Shootings kill 1, injure another VAN NUYS -- One man was killed and another injured in two separate gang-related shootings Tuesday, authorities said. The fatal shooting occurred about 5:40 p.m. when four Latino gang members driving a white Ford Explorer opened fire on an adult Latino male in the 6800 block of Woodman Avenue, striking him in the stomach, said LAPD Officer Jason Lee. The man was taken to a local hospital where he died, Lee said. In an earlier incident at about 3:45 p.m. in the 8300 block of Zelzah Avenue in Northridge, two gang members faced off in an alley and began shooting at each other, Lee said. One of the men was shot in the chest and drove himself to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. -- Daily News Murder trial set in baby's death SAN FERNANDO -- A woman believed to be the mother of a newborn girl whose body was found in a trash bin at a Santa Clarita trailer park was ordered Tuesday to stand trial on murder and assault charges. A San Fernando Superior Court judge found sufficient evidence to try Jacquelin Linaras, 23, on one count each of murder and assault on a child causing death. The newborn's body was found May 2 wrapped in plastic bags and a blanket by a woman looking for recyclables in a trash bin at the trailer park in the 23400 block of San Fernando Road. The baby's umbilical cord was still attached. -- City News Service Dancer files suit against strip club NORTH HOLLYWOOD -- A former topless dancer at a North Hollywood strip club has sued the establishment, alleging management cheated her on tips, did not pay her minimum and overtime wages, and forced her to work more than eight hours without eating. Melissa Arfat filed her lawsuit Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court against Deja Vu of North Hollywood, alleging various violations of the state's Business and Professions and Labor codes. Deja Vu officials were not immediately available for comment. -- City News Service Actor gets jail for punching cop One of the stars of MTV's "The Hills" reality show was sentenced Tuesday today to 60 days in the county jail and 36 months probation after pleading no contest to misdemeanor battery charges stemming from an attack on a Department of Transportation officer and a tow truck operator. Jason Wahler, 20, who formerly starred on the network's "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County," and a female companion, model Kristen DeLuca, were traveling with a group of friends along Wilshire Boulevard when their vehicle was blocked by a DOT vehicle and a tow truck attempting to move an illegally parked car. The couple confronted the officer, who is black, and two tow truck operators -- one of them black, the other Latino -- and began hurling racial epithets at them, according to the City Attorney's Office.
