Rose Parade trip details offered at Willamalane

SPRINGFIELD Springfield.

 - Willamalane Adult Activity Center is hosting a presentation at 10 a.m. Wednesday Wednesday: see week.  to familiarize people with its overnight trip to the Portland Portland, town, England
Portland, town (1991 pop. 12,945), Dorset, S England. It is on the Isle of Portland, a small rocky peninsula. Portland stone has been used in St. Paul's Cathedral and other important London buildings. Lobsters and crabs are harvested.

The trip to Portland is intended for those age 50 and older, and this year marks the parade's 100th anniversary.

Citizen Police Academy applications available

SPRINGFIELD - The Springfield Police Department will host its annual Citizen Police Academy starting on April 3 and ending June 12.

Anyone interested in taking a peek behind the scenes at the police department has until March 9 to submit an application.

The free, 33-hour training program, which includes classroom and hands-on hands-on

 instruction, is open to anyone age 18 and older.

Academy classes are held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays.

To graduate from the Citizen Police Academy, a student must attend at least nine of the 11 classes.

Applications can be picked up at the police department at 344 A St., or found online at www.ci.springfield.or.us/police/home.html.
