Historical Commission seeks applicants
1 City (1990 pop. 105,227), state capital and seat of Sangamon co., central Ill., on the Sangamon River; settled 1818, inc. as a city 1840. - Applicants are being sought for two positions on the city's Historical Commission, which directs tours of historical sites, organizes educational programs and helps the community develop an appreciation of Springfield's heritage.
The deadline to apply is Sept. 29. Applications are available in the city manager's office at City Hall, 225 Fifth St. The City Council will interview candidates for the positions in October October: see month. .
Those interested in applying are asked to attend the Historic Commission's Sept. 11 meeting.
