BRIEFLY.Baseball team holds fundraiser PALMDALE - The Antelope Valley Air Attack Baseball team will benefit from a fundraising event today and Tuesday at Johnny Carino's restaurant. The event will be 4 to 10 p.m. both days at the restaurant, which is at 1173 Rancho Vista Blvd. in the Antelope Valley Mall restaurant row. The restaurant will donate a percentage of purchases by team supporters. Players will be at the restaurant at 5 p.m. Tuesday to meet fans, and a silent auction will sell 10 baseballs autographed by the team. The fundraiser will help pay traveling costs and other team expenses. - Daily News Doctor discusses diabetes issues LANCASTER - Podiatrist Andrew Heller will talk about preventing diabetic foot problems as part of Antelope Valley Hospital's community health lecture series. The lecture will be 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in conference Room 15 on the fourth floor of the hospital's AVOIC building, 44105 15th St. W. Admission is free, but reservations are required by calling (661) 949-5230. Nerve damage can cause loss of feeling in the feet, meaning a person may not feel foot pain or discomfort until a problem reaches an advanced stage. ``Education is the key to preventing foot and leg complications with diabetics,'' Heller said. ``Diabetes is the leading cause of non-traumatic foot and leg amputations in the U.S.''Heller's lecture will cover topics including how diabetes affects blood vessels, nerves and the healing potential for wounds.
