River Road library offers

surplus book sale today

The River Road-Santa Clara Volunteer Library will hold a surplus book sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the River Road Annex, 1055 River Road. Hardcover books will be 50 cents and paperbacks 25 cents. About 5,000 books ranging from history to mystery, science to science fiction and self-help to do-it-yourself will be for sale.

Domestic violence's

effects topic of talk

Krista Chronister, associate professor at the University of Oregon, will speak about the long-term effect of domestic violence on women's careers at the next meeting of the American Association of University Women at 9:30 a.m. today at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 777 Coburg Road. The meeting is open to the public. For information, call 686-3271.

Tai Chi/Qi Gong

instruction offered

A Tai Chi/Qi Gong class with Suman Sensei will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. today at Madison Meadow, West 22nd Avenue and Madison Avenue. A $3 fee is suggested.
