Arrested man dies

of heart failure in jail

Sheriff's deputies contacted the man about 5 a.m. after receiving a report of a disorderly person in the 800 block of Tivoli Avenue. The man was arrested for assaulting a deputy and was lodged in the jail on charges of assaulting a public safety officer, resisting arrest resisting arrest n. the crime of using physical force (no matter how slight in the eyes of most law enforcement officers) to prevent arrest, handcuffing and/or taking the accused to jail.  and criminal trespass.

A short time later, he experienced cardiac arrest, sheriff's Lt. Randy Smith Randy Smith can refer to any of the following people:

 said. Jail staff administered emergency first aid, but the man died.

Oregon State Police are investigating the death and will deliver a report to Sheriff Russ Burger once their inquiry is completed.

Suspect in tot's death may have lived in Eugene

A woman who may have recently lived in Eugene was charged in California Thursday in the death of her 17-month-old daughter.

The case unfolded Wednesday when Red Bluff police responded to a car accident where Dawn Serrena Young was the driver. Police said she had stab wounds on her chest and neck, which they believe were self-inflicted.

Prior to being transported to an area hospital, she told police her baby was dead and said where the child might be located.

Young, 34, was being held Friday at Tehama County Jail without bail, after being arrested Wednesday on suspicion of murder, according to a jail clerk.

Eugene police spokeswoman Kerry Delf said police investigators have been in contact with the Red Bluff police, but would not comment further. Police searched an apartment on West 18th Avenue on Friday in which the resident was listed as Dawn Young.
