Bethel Latino group moves Mother's Day fete
Due to stronger-than-expected registration, today's Bethel Latino Family Organization Mother's Day Celebration will be held at Prairie Mountain School, 5305 Royal Ave., instead of Danebo Elementary School as originally planned. The free event, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., will feature a mariachi band, student and family performances and refreshments. Participants are asked to bring a potluck dish to share. Senior Issues Forum
SPRINGFIELD - Three local legislators will hold a Senior Issues Forum at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Adult Activity Center, 215 West C St., Springfield.
Oregon Sen. Bill Morrisette, Sen. Floyd Prozanski and Rep. Terry Beyer will focus on prescription drug plans and health care at both the state and the national level.
`I have been working with senior issues for over 10 years now and stuff is confusing," Morrisette said. "I hope we can make it a little simpler to understand.'
Christina Jaramillo of Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance will discuss the effects of the Medicare Prescription drug plan and the benefits it will bring to Oregonians. Maribeth Healey of Oregonians for Health Security will talk about the new Oregon prescription drug pool.

Birth Companion Network, an association of birth and postpartum doulas, is hosting a free event titled, "A Good Birth, A Safe Birth," at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Eugene Public Library Bascom Room.
A panel of childbirth experts will discuss having continuous labor support, creating a "can do" mind set, making informed choices, using tried and true pain coping tools and staying upright and active during birth. For information, call 461-1615.
