The opening round of the OSAA Class 3A girls basketball playoffs will be held Wednesday.
Junction City (18-6), a Sky-Em League co-champion, hosts Sutherlin (16-9) at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs are the No. 3 seed from the Far West League. The Tigers (15-11) tied Marist for the league title at 12-2 but settled for the No. 2 seed because they lost both regular-season games against the Spartans.
Pleasant Hill defeated Elmira and Siuslaw in the Sky-Em playoffs last week to earn the league's No. 3 seed. The Billies travel to Phoenix for a 7 p.m. contest. The Pirates are the No. 2 seed out of the Skyline Conference.
Douglas (21-4), the No. 2 seed out of the Far West League, entertains Central, the No. 3 seed from the Val-Co League, at 7 p.m.
Seven Midwestern players
