Police arrest two men
after home invasion
SPRINGFIELD - Two men broke into a Springfield home early Friday, held a baby-sitter at knife-point and stole tools worth a few hundred dollars, police said.
Police were called to the 400 block of G Street at 2:07 a.m. by a boy who was baby-sitting in the home. He reported the men, one wearing a mask, pushed their way into the house and shoved him down after he answered their knock. The boy said one man held a fixed-blade hunting knife toward him while the other took the tools.
The men made off with an electric welder, chop saw and angle grinder, Sgt. Mike McCarthy said. The suspects were "somewhat acquainted" with the resident, police said. Police arrested Brandon Ray Green, 19, of Springfield, and Daniel Flores Cano, 20, of Eugene. Both are charged with first-degree robbery, burglary and theft. Cano also is charged with menacing, according to jail records.
They face potential Measure 11 sentences of 7 1/2 years in prison.
