The result of Ballot Measure 30 will be the subject of a roundtable discussion moderated by Jay Bozievich at the regular meeting of the Rubicon Society at noon Thursday at the Pearl Street Ice Cream Parlour in Eugene. Visitors are welcome. Lunch is optional.

Power plant subject

of community discussion

Citizens concerned about a proposal to build a 900-megawatt gas-fired power plant near Coburg will sponsor two community meetings to encourage discussion of the issue.

The first will be Friday at 6 p.m. at the Eugene Water & Electric Board building at 500 E. Fourth Ave. in Eugene.

The second meeting will be Monday at 6 p.m. in the Springfield City Council Chamber, 225 Fifth St.

Speakers will include land-use consultant Eben Fodor, former county commissioner Tom Lininger and David Monk David Monk is an Australian emigrant who has been living in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, since 1961. He is the founder of the Heartland Pathways organization. Personal life  of the Oregon Toxics Alliance. Coburg resident Carolyn Kinnan will moderate.

Regional agency needs budget member

The Lane Council of Governments seeks a volunteer to serve on the agency's budget committee. Members serve three-year terms and can expect one or two meetings each year.

Applications are available at the LCOG LCOG Lane Council of Governments  offices on the fourth floor of the bank building at 99 E. Broadway in downtown Eugene. Completed applications must be received by 5 p.m. on March 5 in order to be considered.

Great seats open up for tonight's dance concert

Some choice seats have become available at the last minute for tonight's otherwise sold-out Hult Center performance by the Dance Theatre of Harlem Dance Theatre of Harlem, the first black classical ballet company. The group was founded in Harlem, New York City, by Arthur Mitchell, then of the New York City Ballet, the first black principal dancer of a classical company of international standing. . They're in the front rows of the orchestra level and cost $85 each. They're available at the Hult Center ticket office (682-5000) or online at www.hultcenter.org.
