2 districts win grants

to develop leadership

The Springfield and South Lane school districts are among six in the state to be awarded educational leadership grants under the State Action for Education Leadership Project, the Oregon Department of Education The Department of Education of the U.S. state of Oregon is responsible for implementation of state policies with respect to public education at the kindergarten through community college level, including academic standards and testing, credentials, and other matters not reserved to  announced Thursday.

The project, an initiative funded by the Wallace Wal·lace , Alfred Russel 1823-1913.

 in 2002 received a five-year, $5 million Wallace grant. The state received $600,000.
