McKenzie viewpoint, trailhead work begins

McKENZIE BRIDGE - Work is under way at two riverside spots east of here to give travelers a better experience on the McKenzie Pass-Santiam Pass segment of the West Cascades National Scenic Byway A National Scenic Byway is a road recognized by the United States Department of Transportation for its archeological, cultural, historic, natural, recreational, and/or scenic qualities. .

The McKenzie River is a tributary of the Willamette River, 86 miles (138 km) long, in northwestern Oregon in the United States. It drains part of the Cascade Range east of Eugene into the southernmost end of the Willamette Valley.
 Ranger Station. It will include a paved parking area and barrier-free footpath and trail bridge leading to a viewpoint of the river.

The McKenzie River Trailhead will be closed during weekday construction periods until early June. The trailhead will be open for public use most weekends and holidays.
