PALMDALE -- A Littlerock man was killed Tuesday afternoon in Palmdale when his pickup truck was hit from behind by a speeding big rig, a sheriff's official said.

The crash occurred at about 12:50 p.m., on Pearblossom Highway and 25th Street East where the victim was stopped at an eastbound east·bound

The crash sent the victim's Nissan truck tumbling about 100 feet across the intersection into the westbound lanes, where it hit two other vehicles.

The victim, who was not identified, was thought to be in his late 60s or early 70s, a coroner's official said.

Booster clubs are popular in American schools at the high school and university level.  will hold its first annual grass volleyball tournament for doubles and four-person teams Saturday at the school, 39055 25th St. W.

Late registration and check-in is at 7:30 a.m., with play starting at 8 a.m. on a grass field by the student parking lot on Avenue P-8. For doubles teams ages 14 and over, the cost is $20 per person, $25 if registering late. For four-person teams under age 14, the cost is $10 per person.

Men's baseball league to hold charity games

 Men's Adult Baseball League will hold its second annual charity All-Star games Sunday at Clear Channel Stadium, 45116 Valley Central Way, to benefit the Prostate Cancer prostate cancer, cancer originating in the prostate gland. Prostate cancer is the leading malignancy in men in the United States and is second only to lung cancer as a cause of cancer death in men.  Foundation and Grace Resource Center.
