PACOIMA -- A man with a gunshot to the chest walked into the lobby of the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Police Department's Foothill Station on Saturday night, police said.

The man, who was in his 20s, went to the station at 12760 Osborne St. about 8:35 p.m., said Officer Martha Garcia of the Media Relations Section.

It was not clear where or when the man was shot, Garcia said. The victim's identity was not released and his condition was not immediately known, she said.

Burned body found in car

LAKE LOS ANGELES -- Sheriff's deputies found the burned body of a man inside a car near 156th Street East and Palmdale Boulevard early Saturday, officials said.

Fire station holds open house today

Porter Ranch ranch, large farm devoted chiefly to raising and breeding cattle, horses, sheep, and goats. The cattle ranch was introduced from Latin America to Texas and the plains of the W United States and Canada.  Fire Station 28 will hold a retirement ceremony and public open house today.

The ceremony will honor Capt. Charles W. Casper, who is retiring after 50 years of service, including the last 10 at the Porter Ranch station.

Local residents are welcome and can tour the fire station and view its equipment. The open house begins at noon at 11641 Corbin Ave.

SUN VALLEY -- Candles left burning in the living room of a Sun Valley home started a fire Saturday that caused about $240,000 damage and displaced a woman and four children, a fire official said.
