Astronaut to speak on his space travels

PALMDALE -- Former Apollo-Soyuz and space shuttle space shuttle, reusable U.S. space vehicle.  Aerospace Exploration Gallery in the Palmdale Civic Center, 38256 Sierra Highway Sierra Highway is a road in Southern California, United States. Quilt show to take place at end of April

PALMDALE -- High Country Quilters will hold an "An April Showers of Quilts" show from noon to 6 p.m. April 27 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 28 at the Chimbole Cultural Center, 38350 Sierra Highway.

Bobbie Lauder will be the featured quilter. The event also will have a merchant market, demonstrations, a miniquilt auction, a basket bonanza, and an opportunity quilt drawing Saturday.

Literacy Festival at mall on Saturday

PALMDALE -- A local literacy group will host its third annual Literacy Festival on Saturday at the Antelope Valley Mall The Antelope Valley Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in Palmdale, California.

Opened in September, 1990, its buildings take up around 1 million square feet (90,000 m²). Its physical main building, parking lots, and ring road businesses encompass an area a bit less than 0.
.

The festival will be held in center court from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Professional storytellers will perform throughout the festival. The event also features a raffle and the kickoff of a writing contest.

The event is sponsored by Write Often, Read Daily -- Antelope Valley, a coalition of libraries, business people, government agencies and residents.
