Local food pantry to hold fundraiser

QUARTZ HILL -- The 58th annual Almond Blossom Festival will be held from 10a.m. to 6p.m. Saturday and 10a.m. to 5p.m. Sunday at George Lane George Lane (born 1940 ) is a British "mental calculator" and author. LANCASTER -- High school, college and professional jazz musicians will perform at a concert at 7p.m. Saturday at the Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties.  gym, 3041 W. Ave. K. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted at the door to benefit the college jazz program.

Student musicians from Lancaster, Littlerock, Palmdale, Paraclete and Quartz Hill high schools and AVC's jazz ensemble are slated to perform along with well-known jazz musicians who have performed with the likes of John Coltrane, Woody Herman, Sonny Rollins, Chuck Mangione, Doc Severinsen and Frank Sinatra.

Area Zonta Club to host brunch

LANCASTER -- The Zonta Club of the Antelope Valley will hold its annual brunch and auction fundraiser from 10a.m. to 2p.m. Sunday at the Antelope Valley Inn and Convention Center, 44051 Sierra Highway.

The event will have a St. Patrick's Day theme and also will feature entertainment by a hula dance troupe. There will be paddle, live and silent auctions, a jewelry bazaar and a door prize. The proceeds will go toward the club's scholarships and service projects.
