'S.S. Minnow' to sail at brunch

SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  -- The Gypsy Players theater group is presenting a comedy murder mystery spoof See spoofing.

 called "The Last Cruise of the S.S. Minnow minnow, common name for the Cyprinidae, a large family of freshwater fish which includes the carp (Cyprinus carpio), and of which there are some 300 American species. The European minnow is Phoxinus phoxinus. " during Sunday brunch March 18, April 1, April 22 and May 20 at Paul's Italian Villa in Simi Valley.

The script was written by local playwright John Logue of Moorpark. The brunch and show cost $45 per person.

The theater group is also presenting a "Treat Mom to Dinner and Murder" performance in Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  at the La Quinta Inn and Suites on May 12 at 7:30 p.m., with tickets at $59.95 per person.

Baker to speak at Reagan Library

SIMI VALLEY -- Special events at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Coordinates:

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Center for Public Affairs
 this month include a performance by the Air Force Band, a lecture by former Secretary of State James A. Baker III, a Revolutionary War weekend and the library's third annual Easter celebration.

The Air Force Band will offer a free concert in the Air Force One Pavilion from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 14. Tickets are required and will be available at the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce office, 40 W. Cochran St., #100, and at Simi Valley Community Church Simi Valley Community Church (SVCC) is located in Simi Valley, California. Its services are held on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. and Sunday school starts at 9:00 a.m. Its youth program is run by youth pastor Matt Mattias. , 200 Royal Ave. For information, call the chamber at (805) 526-3900 or the church at (805) 526-8075.

Baker will deliver the Reagan Lecture and discuss his role as co-chairman of the Iraq Study Group The Iraq Study group (ISG), also known as the Baker-Hamilton Commission,[1] was a ten-person bipartisan panel appointed on March 15, 2006, by the United States Congress, that was charged with assessing the situation in Iraq and the US-led Iraq War and making  at 5:30 p.m. March 20. Tickets are $125, including a dinner following the lecture. For tickets, call (805) 522-2977.

The free Revolutionary War weekend featuring battle and camp-life re-enactments and an 18th-century fashion show will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 24-25. For information, call (800) 410-8354.

The free Easter celebration is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 31 with a variety of games and activities for children along with musical entertainment.

Although the Easter and Revolutionary War weekend events are free, regular fees are charged for entrance to the museum. The library is at 40 Presidential Drive in Simi Valley. For more information, call (800) 522-2977.
