Tall ship Lynx set for docking

OXNARD -- A tall sailing ship named the Lynx is scheduled to arrive at Channel Islands Harbor on Wednesday afternoon for a 12-day visit featuring tours, adventure sales and battle re-enactments.

On Saturday and Sunday, there will be more tours and adventure sails in which the public can ride on the tall ship at a cost of $55 for adults and $30 for children down to age 13, with children under 12 free.

Teen behavior workshop set

SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  -- The Boys & Girls Club Girls Club is a 2002 American television series created by David E. Kelley, who was also it's producer and executive producer. Only two out of a total of thirteen episodes created were broadcast on Fox Television in the United States and Global Television in Canada.  of Simi Valley is offering a 10-week parenting workshop beginning Thursday to teach parents strategies for dealing with teenagers with behavior problems, failing grades or problems with drugs or gangs.

Senior Concerns starting shuttle

THOUSAND OAKS Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  -- Senior Concerns, a nonprofit social service agency, is starting a service called the Senior Concerns Shuttle to take passengers to and from Thousand Oaks and the Kaiser hospital in Woodland Hills.

The shuttle will leave Senior Concerns at 401 Hodencamp Road in Thousand Oaks at 8:15 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. and return from Kaiser at 9:10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.

The round-trip fare is $20, with a $10 fare for seniors and the disabled. Reservations must be made and paid in full at least a week in advance. For more information, call (805) 341-8004.

Capitol display to get upgrade

VENTURA -- A Ventura County display of photographs and information in the state Capitol is being upgraded under a $20,000 project funded by Ventura County and a $10,000 matching contribution Matching Contribution

"The new design will reflect what we cherish about our county, including our agriculture, military base, private industry, beautiful topography and our prized quality of life," said county Supervisor Kathy Long, who proposed the project in cooperation with the nonprofit Economic Development Collaborative of Ventura County.

Each of California's 58 counties has a display in the Capitol.
