Club's golf event to help charities

SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  -- The Kiwanis Club of Simi Valley will host a celebrity golf tournament May 4 at Moorpark Country Club, including an awards dinner and auction to raise funds for charities supported by the club.

 -- The 18th annual Angels Ball is set for Saturday at Sherwood Country Club to celebrate community contributions to Casa Pacifica, a crisis care and residential treatment facility for abused and neglected children in Ventura and Santa Barbara Santa Barbara (săn'tə bär`brə, –bərə), city (1990 pop. 85,571), seat of Santa Barbara co., S Calif., on the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1850.  counties.

The event includes dinner, dancing, comedy and an auction that includes tickets for UCLA UCLA University of California at Los Angeles
UCLA University Center for Learning Assistance (Illinois State University)
UCLA University of Carrollton, TX and Lower Addison, TX
 basketball and the 2007 USC-UCLA football game.

Tribute concert to aid programs

MOORPARK -- A benefit concert featuring a tribute to Elvis Presley and Tom Jones will be presented Saturday at the Moorpark High School Moorpark High School, located in Moorpark, California, is a public high school in the Moorpark Unified School District and currently has an enrollment of 2,478 students.[1]  performing arts center A performing arts center, often abbreviated PAC, is a multi-use performance space that can be adapted for use by various types of the performing arts, including dance, music and theatre.  to raise money for scholarships and equipment for the school's band and vocal music program.

Each year, the Moorpark High School Band Boosters raise almost $115,000 to support the school's instrumental programs, and the Moorpark High School Voices raise tens of thousands of dollars to purchase choir robes, costumes and technical equipment.

Raymond Michael Hebel is a music teacher at Moorpark High School known for his tributes to Elvis, which he has performed for 10 summers at Knott's Berry Farm Knott's Berry Farm is a brand name of two separate entities: a theme park in Buena Park, California, and a manufacturer of food specialty products (primarily jams and preserves) based in Placentia, California. , in Las Vegas and on television.

The fundraiser at 7 p.m. costs $15 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or in advance from Toni Moran at (805) 529-6305, Ext. 3112.

The event includes a drawing and silent auction from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

OXNARD -- The Economic Forecast Project of the University of California, Santa Barbara History

, will focus on prospects for Ventura County's economy in the coming year at a seminar Feb. 16.

The Ventura County Economic Outlook 2007 seminar will be held at Marriott's Residence Inn at River Ridge, 2101 W. Vineyard Ave., beginning with registration and breakfast at 7 a.m.

Admission of $125 includes a copy of the book ``The 2007 Ventura County Economic Outlook.''
