Teen shot, killed in Valley driveby

NORTH HILLS -- A 17-year-old boy was killed Wednesday in a gang-related driveby shooting on a busy street just blocks from two schools, authorities said.

The teen, who was not identified, was hit once in the face and once in the back, said Norma Eisenman, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department "LAPD" and "L.A.P.D." redirect here. For other uses, see LAPD (disambiguation).

The shooters were two or more male Latinos in their late teens to early 20s. Police did not release a vehicle description. None have been arrested.

Fight over woman sparked attack

CANOGA PARK -- A Jan. 24 shooting outside a mortgage company involved two men in a dispute over a woman, police said Wednesday.

Van Nuys man dies in collision

SUN VALLEY -- A 61-year-old Van Nuys man was killed Wednesday in a two-car collision on the Hollywood Freeway in Sun Valley, causing a shutdown of all northbound lanes for about three hours, authorities said.

The victim, identified by the Coroner's Office as Alonzo Neal, 61, was thrown from his car, according to reporters at the scene. No other injuries were reported, Gonzalez said.

Services slated for local Marine

THOUSAND OAKS -- A memorial service will be held Monday at Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village for Anthony C. Melia, a U.S. Marine from Thousand Oaks who was killed Saturday in Iraq.

The service is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in the church at 5495 Via Rocas, followed by burial at the nearby Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park at 5600 Lindero Canyon Road.

Both the church and memorial park are just north of the Ventura Freeway near the Lindero Canyon exit.

Gunman sought in bank holdup

GLENDALE -- Police are searching for a man suspected of robbing a bank inside a grocery store.

The man, described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and 140-160 pounds, approached the U.S. Bank counter Monday inside the Vons supermarket at 561 N. Glendale Blvd.

Police said the man handed the teller a note indicating it was a robbery, and said he was armed with a gun.
