Erbe chosen chamber chief

SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  -- Attorney and engineer Richard S. Erbe has been selected chairman of the board of the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce for the coming year.

Erbe, a patent attorney in Simi Valley, has worked in the past in the legal department for Walt Disney Noun 1. Walt Disney - United States film maker who pioneered animated cartoons and created such characters as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck; founded Disneyland (1901-1966)

 Imagineering and as an engineer in the energy and environmental fields.

He has been a member of the chamber's board since July 2003 and has served as chairman of several chamber committees and as past chairman of Neighborhood Council 4. He served on the boards of the Simi Valley Education Foundation and the Simi Valley Free Clinic.

Erbe will begin his term Jan. 1, taking over from 2006 chairwoman Daryl Kleintob. He will serve with chairwoman-elect Karen Gabler of the law firm of Nordman Cormany Hair & Compton.

Blood donations badly needed

VENTURA -- Blood donations in the Ventura County area are hundreds of units below the 2,538 needed by the end of the month, officials said.

United Blood Services of the Central Coast issued an alert, saying supplies of all types have declined, especially type-O negative.

Blood donation centers are in Ventura at 1756 Eastman Ave., in Camarillo at 2105 Pickwick Drive and in Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  in the North Star Plaza at 1321 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Suite 126.

Tree disposal begins Tuesday

SIMI VALLEY -- From Tuesday to Jan. 6, city residents can put their Christmas trees Christmas tree
