Man, 70, charged in doc's stabbing

Hertzberg, Davis names on lab

The city-county authority overseeing the new Los Angeles Regional Crime Laboratory now under construction has voted to name the facility after former Assembly Speaker Robert Hertzberg and former Gov. Gray Davis.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca, a member of the authority, proposed the name because the officials protected funds for the project amid severe state budget difficulties.

In 2000-01, an appropriation of $96 million for the project was reduced by $92 million, Baca said, but Davis and Hertzberg were able to restore the funds through lease-bond revenue.

Stabbing outside NoHo High School

NORTH HOLLYWOOD -- A man outside North Hollywood High School North Hollywood High School, originally called Lankershim High School when it opened in 1927, is a secondary school in North Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. Third man guilty in siblings' killing

VAN NUYS -- An 18-year-old man was found guilty Thursday of the gang-related shooting deaths of two teenage brothers at a Canoga Park fast-food restaurant, becoming the third defendant to be convicted in connection with the murders.

Jurors found Saul Rivera guilty of two counts of murder for the Feb. 2, 2005, slayings of 16-year-old David Zapata and his 15-year-old brother, Miguel.

Rivera is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 11.

Police: Man shot, slain in NoHo

NORTH HOLLYWOOD -- A Latino man in his 30s was shot and killed near Lankershim Boulevard and Sherman Way late Thursday, Los Angeles Police Department officers said.

Officer Jason Lee said the shooting took place about 9:15p.m. Sgt. Warren Jones of the North Hollywood station said the killing could possibly be gang-related.
