Fertilizers, soils are session topic

SAUGUS -- A free monthly landscape education class will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Castaic Lake Castaic Lake is a lake on Castaic Creek formed by Castaic Dam, in northwestern Los Angeles County, California, near the town of Castaic. The 323,700 acre foot lake (399,000,000 m³) is the terminus of the West Branch of the California Aqueduct, though some comes from the 154 mi²  Water Agency, above Central Park at 27234 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus. Auctions, wine set for art event

VALENCIA -- The Santa Clarita Artists' Association will present its 17th annual Art Classic from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the Community Room at the Valencia Library, 23743 W. Valencia Blvd., Valencia. The evening will feature fine art, entertainment, complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres, and live and silent auctions. This year's theme is ``United By Art'' and tickets are $20. Shelter to benefit from golf tourney

SANTA CLARITA -- The 11th annual golf tournament benefiting the local homeless shelter raised more than $15,500 Oct. 28 at Vista Valencia Golf Course.

Ten foursomes participated in a skills contest, golfed 18 holes, and had dinner at the event. Proceeds benefit the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  Emergency Winter Shelter, which feeds and provides shelter and counseling for the homeless throughout the valley.

Rep is offering special on tickets

NEWHALL -- The Repertory East Playhouse is offering a special on season tickets for the 2007 season to the first 81 people to call before Dec. 15.

The offer includes one full season pass for $39 when a full season pass is purchased at the regular price of $120, or $110 for seniors. A full season pass includes all nine shows scheduled for 2007 including ``A Few Good Men,'' ``The Last Five Years'' and ``The Eight Reindeer Monologues.''
