Reagan Library remembers 9-11

SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  -- A procession at the Reagan Presidential Library will mark the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The 1.8-mile procession will leave at 5 p.m. from the library, at 40 Presidential Drive, and go to Rancho Madera Community Park at Lake Park Drive and Wood Ranch Parkway.

The festival begins with a Kids and the Arts Fun Run Saturday. Registration costs $25 beginning at 6:30 a.m. at The Lakes shopping center at 2200 Thousand Oaks Blvd., next to the festival site.

Rally to raise Darfur awareness

MOORPARK -- A rally and candlelight ceremony is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to raise awareness about genocide in the Sudan.

The event will be held at the corner of Moorpark and Los Angeles avenues in support of the Million Voices for Darfur campaign.

Veterans support topic of event

SIMI VALLEY -- Residents will carry candles in a ``Light Up Their Lives'' procession, 7:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, in support of hospitalized American veterans.

The event will be held at Veterans Plaza at Rancho Tapo Community Park, 3700 Avenida Simi.

Fundraising walk welcomes dogs

SIMI VALLEY -- Dogs are welcome on a fundraising walk designed to raise money for homeless and abused animals Sept. 30 at the Arroyo Simi Equestrian Center.

The Wag N' Walk event is sponsored by the Secret Garden Restaurant in Moorpark and Animal Rescue Volunteers

Check-in and breakfast begins at 8 a.m. The three-mile walk is set for 9 a.m. Walkers can bring up to two dogs each.

The equestrian center is at 3495 Chickory Leaf Place, southeast of Royal and Sequoia avenues. More information is available at the Animal Rescue Volunteers Web site, www.ARVSIMI.org.

Arts awards gala features concert
