Checkups, prizes set at Health Fair

SUN VALLEY -- A Health Fair on Saturday will feature free immunizations, dental screenings and other health and safety checkups.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sun Valley Recreation Center, 8133 Vineland Ave.

Health care providers will be present, as well as law enforcement officials who can inspect and make sure child car seats are installed properly. Some families could be eligible for a free car seat. Organizers will also give away 200 bicycle helmets, and a dozen families will win a bike.

Muslims open mosques to all

Post office to be named for coach

RESEDA -- The post office will be renamed in honor of legendary UCLA UCLA University of California at Los Angeles
UCLA University Center for Learning Assistance (Illinois State University)
UCLA University of Carrollton, TX and Lower Addison, TX
 basketball coach John Wooden, thanks to President George W. Bush's signing of a bill Thursday authorizing the name change.

``Coach Wooden's leadership was not just on the court. He inspired so many by his testament to leadership, to success, to dedication and to sportsmanship,'' said Rep. Brad Sherman Bradley J. "Brad" Sherman (born October 24 1954) is an American politician. He has been a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 1997, representing California's At-large congressional district. , D-Sherman Oaks, who sponsored the legislation calling for the renaming.

The post office branch will be dedicated during a ceremony Oct. 14, Wooden's 96th birthday.

During Wooden's 28 years as UCLA basketball coach, the Bruins racked up four 30-0 seasons, won 88 consecutive games, 20 conference championships and 10 NCAA NCAA
abbr.
National Collegiate Athletic Association
 championships, including a record seven in a row.

Wooden has lived in Encino for more than 30 years, but the Encino post office was renamed in 2002 in honor of the late Lakers See Lake poets  announcer Chick Hearn. Wooden's daughter, Nancy Muehlhausen, lives in Reseda.
