Jarred Nelson Davis Nelson Davis (c. 1843 - 1888) was the second husband of African-American abolitionist Harriet Tubman. Davis was a former slave and a Union veteran of the American Civil War.

In 1869 he married Tubman, who was 23 years older than he was.
, 25, was visiting with friends Joshua Bryant and Michelle Lionberger at his Sierra Highway Sierra Highway is a road in Southern California, United States. It runs from Tunnel Station near the north limit of the City of Los Angeles, where it intersects with San Fernando Road and Foothill Boulevard, as well as Interstate 5, and continues north to Mojave, mostly paralleling  home when he allowed the pair to handle two handguns he thought were empty, according to the report.

One of the handguns went off and Davis was shot in the face, the report said. He was pronounced dead by paramedics.

Holiday weekend DUI arrests up

SANTA CLARITA -- Arrests for drunk driving increased this Independence Day weekend in the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  over last year, according to the California Highway Patrol.

From 6 p.m. Friday to midnight Tuesday, 20 people were arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, up from 16 during the same time period in 2005.
