NEWHALL - The Knights of Columbus Knights of Columbus, American Roman Catholic society for men, founded (1882) at New Haven, Conn. (where its headquarters are still located), by Father Michael J. McGivney.  will sponsor its 26th annual St. Patrick's Day 5K Run at 9 a.m. Saturday at the East Canyon Trail Head adjacent to the Church of the Nazarene Church of the Nazarene (năz'ərēn`), U.S. Protestant denomination established in 1908 through the union of the Church of the Nazarene, based in California; the Association of Pentecostal Churches, a New England group; and the Holiness , 23857 The Old Road, Newhall. The race will be run on the East Canyon Trail with awards three deep in each division. Registration is $20 or $26 with a T-shirt.  will host a fun-filled, family-oriented Purim Carnival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday to celebrate one of the most joyous holidays of the Jewish calendar Jewish calendar

Chorus to perform traveling songs

NEWHALL - The Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  Barbershop Chorus will present ``Traveling in Harmony'' at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Hart Auditorium, 24825 N. Newhall Ave., Newhall. The show will feature a variety of favorite traveling tunes sung by the chorus, its quartets and the contest-winning youth quartets. Also appearing will be the Pederson Family Singers. Fillmore presents Railfest weekend

FILLMORE - Railfest 2006 will take place March 18 and 19 at the Fillmore & Western Railway depot in Fillmore. Excursion trains will start departing at 10 a.m. March 18 and continue throughout the weekend. Tickets are $20 for an Adult One Day Railpass or $15 for children. There will also be an arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant.
