`Road rage' leads to driver's arrest

SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - A Simi Valley motorist was arrested after another man was hit by a vehicle during an apparent ``road-rage'' confrontation in a supermarket parking lot, police said.

Douglas Crosby, 54, was arrested when a motorcycle officer stopped his vehicle and noticed it was missing its driver's door handle, which the other motorist had grabbed and broken off in the parking lot.

Police said the two motorists had tried about 9:30 a.m. Saturday to turn into a driveway to the Vons shopping center shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into  on Cochran Street from opposite directions. When Wright and his wife came out of the store a few minutes later, they said they saw the other motorist scratching their car with a key.

When the couple confronted the man, he got in his vehicle and drove off, knocking down Paul Wright, who had stood in front of the vehicle to stop it from leaving, police said.

Sniper attacks car dealership, police

LANCASTER - Sheriff's deputies were continuing to search Saturday for a sniper who shot a showroom window at a car dealership and then opened fire on sheriff's deputies.

Several deputies responded to the first shots about 8:45 Thursday night at a Mazda dealership on 10th Street West, officials said.

``During their investigation the deputies encountered fire and ran for cover,'' said Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Ed Stewart. ``They were evacuated and by the time they returned, the shooting had stopped.''

No one was injured.

Reservoir water OK after break-in

Man dies after he is stabbed at party

PACOIMA - An 18-year-old man was fatally stabbed during a fight at a party in Pacoima, Los Angeles police said Saturday.

The attack in the 13000 block of Van Nuys Boulevard was reported Friday night, said Los Angeles police Officer Martha Garcia.

Garcia said the victim and another person had argued at the party. They went outside and the ``suspect stabbed the victim,'' she said.

The victim died later at a hospital, according to Garcia. The suspect remained at large Saturday.
