Berry pretty art sought for poster

OXNARD - The deadline is Friday for entries in the 2006 annual Strawberry Festival poster contest.

Artists of all ages are eligible to enter the contest to find the official poster for the festival held each May in Oxnard.

Cal Lutheran alum to do Elvis tribute

THOUSAND OAKS - Elvis impersonator Raymond Michael of Moorpark will be featured when the California Lutheran University Mission statement
The University's mission statement is as follows:

Employment law updates offered

THOUSAND OAKS - Local employers will have the opportunity to plan for 2006 employment law changes with the Thousand Oaks-Westlake Village Regional Chamber of Commerce's Networking Breakfast of Champions on Jan. 13.

Karen Gabler of the law firm Nordman Cormany Hair & Compton LLP LLP - Lower Layer Protocol  will present the employment law updates at the breakfast, scheduled from 7-9 a.m. at the Los Robles Robles is a common surname in the Spanish language meaning oaks, and may refer to:

Simi Valley youths invited to summit

SIMI VALLEY - The Youth Council is accepting applications through Jan. 20 from high school students interested in attending the 2006 Youth Summit.

The event, scheduled for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 23, will include lunch with local leaders, a keynote speaker, interactive workshops, and small-group discussions. This year's theme is ``Overcoming Obstacles.''

The summit, sponsored by the Simi Valley Youth Council and the city of Simi Valley and designed to inspire young people to develop their potential, will be held at the Rancho Santa Susana Community Center, 5005 Los Angeles Ave.

Applications are available at all high school front offices or can be obtained by contacting Laura Magness, Youth Council coordinator, at (805) 522-4473.
