 officials said.

The sedan's driver had minor injuries but was not transported to the hospital after the 6 p.m. collision on the busway at Kester Avenue and Oxnard Street, said Sgt. Jimmy Chong of the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Bureau.

The driver said he would see his own doctor, Chong said.

Some passengers on the bus also complained of minor pain, but none was transported to a hospital, Chong said.

The sedan's driver was going south and apparently failed to stop at a red light. The bus had only minor damage, while the car had moderate damage, Chong said. The collision is under investigation, Chong said.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which runs the busway, said it would investigate the incident and determine if additional safety features were needed at Kester and Oxnard.

``To put it in perspective, we traveled almost 200,000 miles and have carried more than a half-million people. Six of the accidents have been minor and one was more serious,'' said MTA spokesman Marc Littman.

``Once again, people ran a red light, and the bus was creeping along the intersection at 10 mph,'' Littman said, referring to the slower speed limit imposed for Orange Line buses in intersections.
