Car-shooting victim dies at hospital

LANCASTER - A woman who was shot while sitting with a male companion in a parked car early Saturday at a city park died early Monday at Lancaster Community Hospital This article or section needs sources or references that appear in reliable, third-party publications. The 29-year-old woman from Palmdale died about 12:30 a.m. Her name was not released pending notification of her family. The man, who also was shot, remained hospitalized, officials said.

Deputies were sent at 3:45 a.m. Saturday to Eastside Park Eastside Park is a residential neighborhood in the Eastside of Paterson, New Jersey east of downtown. Once the home of the city's industrial and political leaders, the neighborhood experienced a significant downturn as industry fled Paterson. , 45045 5th St. E., where the victims were found shot in a car, sheriff's deputies said. Both victims were hospitalized in critical condition Saturday.

County OKs deal in Lancaster claim

City officials planned to build a water main last year along Avenue K from 12th Street West to 10th Street West.

``The city's plans showed the water main to be 4 feet deep. However, the district's plan checker overlooked the fact that the water main was actually 9 feet deep, and verified the city's plans as accurately portraying the location of the water main,'' according to a memo from the county counsel.

Because of the error, city officials hired a second contractor to relocate portions of the water main at a cost of $54,721.
