Henschel is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Sarah, 11; and son, Jack, 4. Henschel was active in the La Crescenta community as a soccer coach and also worked as a volunteer in raising funds to fight breast cancer.

Moorpark woman jailed in I.D. theft

Hospital to reopen emergency room

VAN NUYS - Valley Presbyterian Hospital, 15107 Vanowen St., will reopen its renovated Emergency Department on Oct. 14, with a celebration planned for 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., officials said.

The project, financed with a $250,000 grant from the Ahmanson Foundation, includes a centralized cardiac-monitoring system, a new admissions area and enhanced security.

Valley Presbyterian is a 380-bed acute-care hospital that opened in 1958.

Wind-felled tree triggers outage

NORTHRIDGE - A pine tree fell on power lines in Northridge on Thursday, disrupting electrical service to about 700 customers for about an hour, Department of Water and Power officials reported.

House honors late Simon Wiesenthal

Investment aide charged in fraud

A Van Nuys man who allegedly preyed on Armenian-Americans, fraudulently raising about $20 million via his Glendale-based investment firm, was arrested Thursday on mail fraud and other charges.
