Police K-9 teams take home medals

SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - Two Police Department K-9 teams recently won medals awarded at the World Police and Fire Games The World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) are a biennial athletic event open to active and retired law enforcement and fire service personnel throughout the world. The WPFG Federation is an arm of the California Police Athletic Federation (CPAF), a U.S. organisation.  held in Quebec.

 and partner Hasko received two silver medals and a bronze medal in individual events and were awarded the bronze medal in the overall competition.

Officer Rick Morton and partner Rex were awarded two bronze medals and placed fourth in the overall competition.

The games are held annually and showcase competitions between police and fire departments. This year's event featured 40 canine teams from across Canada Across Canada was an afternoon program that formerly aired on The Weather Network. The segment ran from early 1999 until mid 2002. The show ran from 3:00PM ET until 7:00 PM ET.  and the United States.

The competition included obedience, agility and handler protection competitions, as well as narcotics narcotics n. 1) techinically, drugs which dull the senses. 2) a popular generic term for drugs which cannot be legally possessed, sold, or transported except for medicinal uses for which a physician or dentist's prescription is required.  and explosive detection.

The Simi Valley teams were sponsored by the Police Foundation.

Benefit at library to aid symphony

SIMI VALLEY - The seventh annual Moonlight and Roses dinner dance to benefit the New West Symphony is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. July 31 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Coordinates:

The black tie-optional event will include a cocktail reception, auctions and performances of big band dance music by Harry Selvin and his 17-piece orchestra.

Sponsored by the New West Symphony League, a fundraising arm of the New West Symphony, the goal is to raise $75,000. Since 1998, the event has raised more than $300,000 for the New West Symphony and its educational programs.
