Anti-gang sweep nets more arrests

Authorities announced Wednesday they have captured two more members of the Vineland Boys gang, bringing the grand total to 38 arrests after Tuesday's Operation Silent Night raids.

Juan Cedeno Gomez and Ruben Ayala were taken into custody after Tuesday's operation, in which authorities executed 43 search and arrest warrants in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. , Valencia, Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969. , Palmdale, Rosamond and Bakersfield. Officials said the raids capped an 18-month investigation against one of the region's most violent gangs.

Blaze damages auto repair shop

Fight broken up at Valley school

The festival, which begins Friday and lasts through Sunday, is held on the grounds of Soka University at 26800 W. Mulholland Highway, just east of Las Virgenes Canyon Road.

It opens at 7 p.m. Friday with a traditional contradance and an opening night storytelling event. Friday admission for the dance and storytelling concert is $10.

Saturday and Sunday hours are 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Ticket price for each day is $30 at the gate. A reduced price of $22 is offered to attendees who arrive after 3 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday.

Gunman is sought in 110 shooting

Authorities on Wednesday sought the gunman who wounded two men in a car-to-car shooting on the Harbor Freeway in southwest Los Angeles.

The shooting occurred about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday as an Infiniti sedan headed southbound on the 110 Freeway at Adams Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.

A late-model Chevrolet Impala slowed directly to the left of the Infinity, and a passenger leaned out and fired about five shots from a small-caliber handgun, according to a CHP CHP Chapter

The driver of the Infiniti, a 28-year-old Los Angeles man, suffered an arm wound and a 30-year-old Los Angeles man riding in the front passenger seat suffered wounds to an arm and hand, the CHP reported. A passenger in the rear seat was unhurt.
