Closures planned on A.V. Freeway

PALMDALE - The Antelope Valley Freeway The Antelope Valley Freeway is a freeway in Los Angeles and Kern counties in southern California. It is signed as California State Highway 14 along its length. It connects Greater Los Angeles to the rapidly developing Antelope Valley.  will be closed in the following areas nightly from Tuesday through June 25 for construction of car-pool lanes, expected to be completed in spring 2007:

 from Palmdale Boulevard to Avenue S. Detour will be Sierra Highway Sierra Highway is a road in Southern California, United States. It runs from Tunnel Station near the north limit of the City of Los Angeles, where it intersects with San Fernando Road and Foothill Boulevard, as well as Interstate 5, and continues north to Mojave, mostly paralleling  to southbound Route 14 Avenue S on-ramp.

--Wednesday, 1 to 5 a.m., northbound north·bound

--Thursday, midnight to 4 a.m., southbound from Palmdale Boulevard to Avenue S. Detour will be Sierra Highway to southbound Route 14 Avenue S on-ramp.

--Friday, 1 to 5 a.m., northbound from Avenue S to Pearblossom Highway. Detour will be Sierra Highway to northbound Route 14 Pearblossom Highway on-ramp.

--Saturday, midnight to 4 a.m., southbound from Palmdale Boulevard to Avenue S. Detour will be Sierra Highway to southbound Route 14 Avenue S on-ramp.

Telephones down at city's offices

PALMDALE - The telephone system at city of Palmdale offices will be down until 8 a.m. Monday while a new system is installed.

Until then, callers will not be able to leave voice-mail messages for city employees.

Anyone who needs to reach the maintenance division through the weekend regarding downed trees, traffic signal problems, sprinkler malfunctions or any other maintenance issues should call (661) 265-0469.

Elder abuse is a general term used to describe harmful acts toward an elderly adult, such as physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional or psychological abuse, financial exploitation, and neglect, including self-neglect.
