Court injunction blocks demolition

GLENDALE - A three-judge panel from the state Court of Appeal said that the city could not demolish two buildings on the site of a proposed shopping mall until the court considered a lawsuit claiming that the buildings are historic sites.

The court extended an injunction protecting old Fire Station 21 and the Pacific Bell building in downtown Glendale. The buildings are on the proposed site of the Americana at Brand Americana at Brand will be a large outdoor shopping community in Glendale, California. The site is owned by Caruso Affiliated, who owns many other commercial properties such as The Grove at Farmers Market in Los Angeles, CA. , a 15.5-acre retail, residential and entertainment complex approved by the City Council and the city's voters.

Southland to get $10.8 million aid

Supervisor calls for investigation

Motorcyclist dies after auto crash

WOODLAND HILLS - A motorcyclist who sped through a red light Wednesday night was fatally struck by a car in the Warner Center area, and his female passenger was in critical condition, authorities said.

The accident occurred at Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Erwin Street at 9:13 p.m., said Sgt. John Cudworth of the Los Angeles Police Department's West Valley Station.

The motorcycle was traveling at ``extremely high speeds'' when it entered the intersection, Cudworth said.

Three teenagers arrested by police

SIMI VALLEY - Three teenagers were arrested early Thursday morning on suspicion of burglary after police found thousands of dollars worth of stereo components, camping gear, cellphones and other stolen property in their vehicle and the home of one of the suspects, officials said.

Autos destroyed in apparent arson

LANCASTER - Some 40 Los Angeles County firefighters Thursday put out a suspicious blaze that damaged a Lancaster apartment building along with 10 parked vehicles, authorities said.
