Memorial event is to be planned

 Service Organization Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the Palmdale Senior Center to plan Memorial Day observances at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.

The Memorial Day observance will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the memorial park located at 2200 E. Ave. S Ave.

Small-plane crash victim identified

TEHACHAPI - A California City man has been identified as the second victim of a crash that destroyed a small plane.

Robert Andrasevits, 58, was the passenger in a small airplane that crashed Friday about 12 miles northwest of Tehachapi, apparently while trying to make an emergency landing through low clouds on a dirt road dirt road n (US) → camino sin firme

Also killed in the crash was pilot Robert Leroy Robert LeRoy (born February 7, 1885 - died September 7, 1946) was a tennis player from New York in the United States, who won two medals at the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis.  Hedlund, 72, of Tehachapi. The 1949 Bellanca took off from a private airport in Exeter on Friday morning but never arrived in Tehachapi as expected, officials said. The wreckage was found Saturday morning north of Highway 58 at Bealville Road.
