Killer of 2 Israelis faces life in prison

Council presses for El Toro airport

Fugitive thought to be hiding here

A man suspected of shooting two Denver police officers, one fatally, might be in the Southland and trying to flee to Mexico, authorities said Thursday.

Raul Garcia-Gomez, 19, is accused of killing Denver police Detective Donnie Young on Sunday, said Los Angeles police Officer Grace Brady. Another officer survived the shooting.

Anyone with information on the suspect's whereabouts was urged to call police at (800) LAW-FULL.

Explosives finder being tried at LAX

A new explosives-detection device that debuted at LAX on Thursday could speed up the security screening process and reduce the number of passengers who get physically searched, federal security officials said.

The new portal is being tested at airports around the country as an alternative to the time-consuming pat-downs that some passengers are currently subjected to as part of increased national security measures.

Shots fired near Reseda campus

Los Angeles police on Thursday were investigating a shooting near Reseda High School Reseda High School, established in 1955, is located in the Reseda section of Los Angeles, California, United States.

Man posed as fed to purchase gun

A Granada Hills man has pleaded guilty to impersonating an agent with the National Security Agency in an attempt to purchase a handgun, officials said Thursday.
